Rev It Ongole

Ride Guidelines

These guidelines exist for one reason — to bring every rider home safely. Following them is a condition of membership and participation in any Rev It Ongole event.

Core Rules — No Exceptions

  1. 1Every rider must wear proper riding gear.
  2. 2Every rider must follow lane discipline.
  3. 3No chasing on group rides.
  4. 4Always follow your lead rider.
  5. 5Respect the formation and respect other bikers.
  6. 6No spam, no political content, and no personal harassment.

1. Mandatory Safety Gear

Every rider must wear a full-face or modular ISI/DOT-certified helmet on all Rev It Ongole rides — no exceptions. Riding jacket with CE-rated armour (shoulders, elbows, back), gloves, ankle-covering footwear, and long trousers are strongly recommended. Riders arriving at the start point without a certified helmet will not be permitted to join the ride.

2. Pre-Ride Bike Inspection

Before any group ride, perform the T-CLOCS check on your motorcycle: Tyres & Wheels (tread depth, pressure, spokes), Controls (clutch, throttle, levers), Lights & Electrics (headlight, indicators, horn), Oil & Fluids (engine oil, brake fluid, coolant), Chassis (frame, bolts, chain tension), and Stand (side and centre stands). If your bike is not roadworthy, do not join the ride.

3. Group Formation & Riding Position

We ride in a staggered formation — the lead rider takes the right third of the lane, the second rider takes the left third of the lane with a minimum two-second gap, and so on. Maintain a minimum three-second following distance from the rider directly ahead of you. Never ride side-by-side in the same lane. The sweep rider always remains at the rear and must not pass any group member.

4. Hand Signals

All riders must know and use standard hand signals: left turn (left arm extended), right turn (right arm extended or left arm bent upward), slow down / hazard ahead (left arm extended downward, waving), stop (left arm bent at elbow pointing down, palm facing back), road hazard left (left hand pointing down), road hazard right (right foot pointing down). Practice these before your first ride.

5. Speed & Distance

Rev It Ongole rides always respect posted speed limits on highways and city roads. On ghat sections or narrow roads, speed is reduced to match conditions. No racing or aggressive overtaking within the group. If you fall behind, notify the sweep rider — do not speed to catch up. We ride together and wait at designated checkpoints.

6. Zero Tolerance: Alcohol & Drugs

Riding under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, or any substance that impairs judgment is strictly prohibited. Any member found to have consumed alcohol before or during a ride will be removed from the group immediately. This policy protects every rider on the road and is non-negotiable.

7. Mobile Phone Use

Using a handheld mobile phone while riding is illegal and dangerous. Mount your phone on a handlebar cradle only for navigation. Use Bluetooth intercom systems for communication between riders. Calls and messages must be handled only during designated rest stops with the engine off.

8. Checkpoints & Sweeping

Every ride has designated checkpoint locations announced at the pre-ride briefing. The lead rider waits at each checkpoint until the sweep rider arrives. No one proceeds past a checkpoint until the entire group has reassembled. If a rider experiences a breakdown or emergency, they signal the sweep and the group halts at a safe location ahead.

9. Pillion Rider Rules

Pillions must also wear a certified helmet and appropriate protective gear. Pillion weight affects braking distance and handling — maintain an additional two-second buffer. Pillions should not shift weight unexpectedly in corners. Both rider and pillion must be briefed on basic signals and emergency procedures before departure.

10. Respect & Conduct

Rev It Ongole is built on brotherhood and mutual respect. Aggressive behaviour, verbal abuse, or actions that endanger fellow riders will result in permanent removal from the community. We respect other road users, pedestrians, local communities, and the environment at every destination we visit.
